Sarah Palin Views American Idol

Sarah Palin was the mother of teenagers before she became a U.S. presidential candidate.

She has watched the "American Idol" television show with her family and has wrote about it in her book "American By Heart" that we are reviewing here.

"Did you ever wonder where the producers of "American Idol" come up with the seemingly endless supply of people who can't sing but are deluded enough to get up in front of a national televsion audience and screech out a song anyway?

Many of the contestants' ability (or, more accurately, inability) to carry a tune reminds me uncomfortably of me. But they get up and sing anyway and are unaccepting and horrified when the judges' critiques begin. Chalk some of them up as victims of the cult of self-esteem. No one they've encountered in their lives--from their parents to their teachers to their president--wanted them to feel bad by hearing the truth. So they grew up convinced they could become big pop stars like Michael Jackson.

On "American Idol," of course, these self-esteem-enhanced but talent deprived performers eventually learn the truth. After they've embarrassed themselves for the benefit of the producers, they are told in no uncertain terms that they, in fact, can't sing, regardless of what they've been told by others. but in the wider world, these kinds of instances of hard-truth-telling are increasingly rare. Instead of eventually confronting the limits of their inflated egos when it comes to paying the rent and putting food on the table, Americans are increasingly being told not to worry about it. Someone else will provide for them.

I think a large part of the appeal of "American Idol" is the spectacle of Simon Cowell pouring cold water ove the heads of these young people. Cowell can be a little harsh at times, but he upholds the highest standards, and something in us recognizes and responds to that.

Un fortunately, Cowell is almost alone in is willingness to tell hard truths. Instead, a growing chorus of voices is trying to convince our kids that hard work isn't necessary anymore, that they're entitled to a lengthening list of benefits paid for by others, and that they don't have to accept the consequences of their actions when those consequences are bad. Those voices seem to think that the purpose of government--the purpose of America--isn't to promise equal opportunity but to produce equal outcomes. If we all just magically had the same number of material possessions, we'd all be happy. And their preferred way to bring about this magical situation is by redistributing income.

During the campaign, Obama called it 'spreading the wealth.' Whatever the term, it means government taking from some and giving to others.

The problem with this plan is that Americans don't think it's...well, "American."

The millions of unemployed Americans are wondering why they are having such a hard time finding another full-time job to replace the ones they have lost during this Recession, Click Link Below For Article:

The BrightLights will be on Danica Patrick after another IndyCar race soon as she came in the 8th position on the leaders 166th lap also after being as high as fourth place during the Indy 500. It was interesting that Jeff Simmons of Danica Patricks former team Rahal Letterman finished the Indy 500 in the 11th position so it appears that their cars were not as competetive as the Andretti Green cars as predicted, which is reportedly the reason Danica Patrick left for greener garages. http://www.speedgear.com/cw2/Assets/product_full/ab6725.jpg

Dale Earnhardt Jr / Danica Patrick Parallel

Yes, this is the New American Music Site. I also write on the NASCAR StockcarSunday Racing 'round and 'round and am doing a qualifying run of Danica Patrick under the BrightLights. There is a fastmusic link at the end of this article.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. was in the Sports heahlines recently when he announced that he and the management of the StockcarSunday racing organization his late father, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. founded had failed to come to an agreement on terms for a new contract for the 2008 season, making him the most high-profile "free agent " that NASCAR has ever had to contend with as baseball and other sports worldwide have experienced. htt

I am drawing a parallel with Danica Patrick of the IndyCar Series because it may prove to be an indicator of what may happen when Dale Earnhardt, Jr. finally decides what existing team to join, or perhaps create his own vertically integrated (full-service) racing organization. http://www.decaturdaily.com/decaturdaily/sports/061009/vickers1A.jpg

Danica Patrick was IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year 2005 at the Indianapolis 500 Race. She has joined Andretti Green Racing for the 2007 season as part of a four-car (!) IndyCar Series endeavor. Her senior teammate is 2004 IndyCar Series Champion Tony Kanaan along with Marco Andretti, 2006 Rookie of the Year. http://www.andrettigreenracing.com/library/Danica%204.jpg

Now that Danica Patrick has a first-class aluminum and steel charger she can no longer be the "Lady-in-Waiting" in a White NOMEX Racing Suit; on tournament StockcarSunday Afternoons must go out and joust with the Knights in White NOMEX Racing Suits with the expectation that she can prevail and win the checkered herald. http://www.speedgear.com/cw2/Assets/product_Full/ab6725.jpg

Danica Patrick and her Black Charger http://racing.honda.com/images/irl_drivers/car/dpatri.jpg

Early Indianapolis 500 qualifying: Helio Castroneves has won the Indy 500 "Pole" (# 1 starting position) with a qualifying speed of 225.81 Miles-Per-Hour, the Third Row consists of: Ryan Briscoe 224.41 MPH, Danica Patrick 224.07 MPH and her teammate Marco Andretti 223.29 MPH. As you can see, Danica Patrick has as good a chance as anyone in the top fifteen cars (there are 33 in the complete field, NASCAR runs 43 on the same Speedway) to win.

The parallel I am drawing between Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Danica Patrick for this article is: When drivers have top-tier equipment and organizations behind them there is a certain factor of "Lady Luck" involved as to who wins. A car a lap behind you can blow an engine and twentyfour-seconds later you are skating into the wall as you drive over it's slick trail, or there can be a spinout taking-out the twelve cars in front of you in a chain reaction that leaves you in first place.

The better Danica Patrick does, the better she is going to have to do to satisfy the broadcast, print and Internet media. I will be happy if she finishes each race without serious incidents.http://www.danicaracing.com This is the link to Danicas Official Website. For you dial-uppers: It is a full page photo, and it is beautiful. The website itself requires a broadband connection and a download of FLASH 7, so you will know before hand if you will be able to Clickthrough.
