WASHINGTON – Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder. "Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave." While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to "the vast right-wing conspiracy." For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago . Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by both Barack Obama and his Democratic primary opponent Hillary Clinton can only be understood as a psychological disorder. 'A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do." Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
- creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
- satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
- augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
- rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

Senator John McCain's choice for vice president, Sarah Palin, has had extreme liberals foaming at the mouth for days.
I sense a fundamental loss of confidence for team Obama, and his supporting media.
Attacks on Governor Palin range from suggestions that a mother cannot govern in high office (though she's already doing that), to crazy suppositions that her daughter was the one who actually bore Trig Palin, Sarah's child born in April of this year. Now extreme lefties have intensified their attacks, since learning the fact that Bristol is actually pregnant with a child of her own.
I watched Sarah Palin's acceptance speech, to the Republican convention and to America. While my position is not to endorse any candidate for political office, I can express admiration for this gutsy woman, who delivered her address with fire and good humor.
Sarah Palin and her family are Normal with a capital N. They have the challenges and make the mistakes with which regular Americans are very familiar, and they face them with honesty and integrity. What a refreshing contrast to so many of the disingenuous politicians jockeying for power in public offices.
To the liberals: no, Bristol can't kill her baby to 'cover up' the fact that she had sex before marriage, because she's pro-life. Bristol and her family apparently regard the unexpected baby is a gift and a challenge, not a "punishment", as the opposing candidate had previously suggested in relation to his own daughters.
To the pro-aborts who suggest that she might have been "forced to keep the baby", please attend to the lawsuits against your abortion businesses for concealing the coerced abortions committed on girls who have been molested and raped.
I looked at Sarah Palin and her family tonight and saw an image of the myriad people who hold America together. Normal with a capital N. This family exemplifies optimism and real hope for all of us. I pray for God to bless the Palins, no matter where this campaign trail leads them.

Ronald Reagan once said, "…we have come to a time for choosing. Public servants say, always with the best of intentions, 'What greater service we could render if only we had a little more money and a little more power.' But the truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector."And what is our government's legitimate function? Our Constitution's Preamble says "to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty."
On the contrary the founders were rugged individualists that inherently believed in property rights and distrusted authority. They knew all too well about the abuse of power and individual/state's rights when too much power devolves to any central authority-- say like a despotic monarch or an overtaxing parliament/legislature.
The founders believed in capitalism, free markets, and private businesses and believed that government, although a necessary evil, needed to be kept small, with its powers limited and dispersed to keep it from depriving people and businesses of the rewards of their work--their wages, their property, and their liberty. That's why taxes, while necessary, need to be kept low. Legitimate government functions need to be conducted and fairly paid for while only lightly infringing on an individual's liberty, money, or pursuit of happiness and the ability to take care of one's own family and their lives.
But too often today we're taken in by the politician's siren call of promises to deliver "free" education, "free" healthcare, Medicare, social security and other "entitlement" freebies. We want to believe that and we want to trust their good intentions, but we know that there are no real "free" lunches. Everything comes at some cost and that cost is always our freedom and ability to choose for ourselves.
We continue to trade our freedoms and tax dollars for false hopes and politicians' promises to take better care of us than we can do for ourselves. How ludicrous. Conservatives don't trust liberals to choose for them and likewise liberals bashing moderates, like President Bush for 8 years, let alone true conservatives, demonstrates they don't want right-wing politicians deciding for them either. So why are so many willing to trust "the government" to do anything for them other than what is absolutely necessary?
Government keeps getting bigger and more powerful and as it does it requires more of people's confiscated property—called taxes—just to pay the politicians and run the government. That's always before it delivers anything "free" back to the people, who today, include more and more non-citizens. So why not cut out the "middle man" politician by keeping more of our own money in the first place? That's what cutting taxes does—it takes decisions away from politicians and returns it to the individual where it rightfully belongs. Most, if not all, people know what they want for their lives better than any politician or government official ever could. Of course that would mean foregoing things like rationed healthcare, poor performing public education systems, reduced tuition for illegal aliens, loan guarantees for weak home lenders and buyers and other out-of-control, pork-barrel, earmark spending scams. Most, if not all, people know what they want for their lives better than any politician or government official ever could. Voting for politicians seeking more laws, more government, more power, and more taxes is always a vote to place more constraints on one's liberty, or forfeiting it completely. This November we are free to vote for any reason whatsoever. Sadly, most will not vote at all.
That's one's right in America and much too frequently exercised. Others will vote frivolously, like many do, in high-school level popularity contests. But informed voters, some with candidates they know and believe in and others faced with the "lesser of two evils" choice, will select someone they think will not harm them, their interests, their money or their freedom and who will ideally and properly "secure the blessings of liberty." Those voters will be rendering the "greater service" simply by coming to a time of choosing as thoughtful citizens.

The Chinese, Mexicans, and Russians are drilling near our own coastlines! And yet, we serve the master of Oil Fascism in the US. That’s right my friends. God has blessed America with great natural resources. From oil reserves to gas to coal, the US has enough energy capability for the next 100 years+. In addition, we have great American ingenuity that can advance Biofuel energy for our future needs. America also has a great Nuclear energy program with successful energy centers across America. But do we drill, build new refineries or plants? No, instead we bow down to eco-liberalism and faulty science. And yet what is our liberal-led congress doing in response? They are looking to increase personal, business and consumption taxes. And it’s not just the Federal Government, but state and local governments as well. Let good old fashion America business ingenuity provide for us. Profitability, supply factors and demand will tell us what will work. Regulate to prevent monopolistic behaviors is the guideline that should be used, not socialism. Free market rule and supply side economics will win the day. Until this happens, American consumers will continue to be held at gunpoint by OPEC and the sheiks. Congress needs to get the hell out of the way and let the natural market fix this issue. We need to drill now, build more refineries for gas, coal, and oil, and expand our nuclear program. At the same time, we can advance research for new methods of energy. Our Founding Fathers responded to the Tyrant King under far less regulation and taxes.
