Hello, and thanks to all the artists that have participated. The event has reached a point from the need arises to develop further, hence we have decided to start the Bios Art Collective, this will hopefully bring more focus from a larger and larger group, extend the initiative further.

We are (loosely) planning the next event for September, there are also plans to develop a sister event in Chichester England so if you are interested in participating then please get in touch:

Bios – performance – 'codification'

 - a formula – we invite the same people, use the same name, base it around the same principle, and it takes place in the same place. 

I feel that there is a waning of interest in this event – "the next bios…" But this is my fault and responsibility rather than the artists' desire for new adventures, for new places. Maybe it has been codified in my own mind or maybe it has become 'established' as an art event and therefore lost its cathartic potential – like subcultures assimilated by the establishment – the 'sub' becomes 'est.'.

The character of research, experimentation, and exploration must be preserved and must persevere.

We have an overpowering need to make products – finished, airtight, saleable, ready to consume – or is this just how we are prepared by the overwhelming structure of expectation of the consumer system. Time to live, time to break free – Bios is the impetus to re-politicize art, life, and the body, to refresh creative freedom in the 'private body' and demand freedom from the constraints of 'public body'.        

 Po prostu szedłem szosą z Dobczyc do Wiśniowej, to jest Beskid Wyspowy,
ja tam czasem jeżdżę żeby uciec. Szedłem szosą, obok samochody, ja
schodziłem na pobocze, tego dnia pojawiło się słońce
po długim okresie ciemnicy, a ja urwałem się, nie poszedłem do pracy i
nikomu nic nie mówiłem że wyjechałem poza jednym kolegą z pracy który
powiedział że ok, żebym nie muszę przychodzić. I szedłem i dużo myślałem
i czułem się cudownie. Bo mam dużo nadgodzin w pracy,
i za dużo halasu i zamieszania i za mało samotności żeby myśleć.
Szedłem koło magicznej Grodzisko gdzie miejsce kultów prasłowiańskich i
to góruje nad okolicą i jest inne powietrze i coś się unosi jakaś
niewidoczna energia. I szedłem i wymyśliłem między innymi to co czuję i
jak to przedstawić. I że chciałbym to zrobić tam u Was, bo myślałem o
tym co czuję ze względu na Brzeźno. Że byłby to wypadek, accident.
Trochę rozgrzałbym asfaltu, smoły, masy smolistej asfaltopodobnej i tą
masę wylałbym na kawalek podwóza, niewiele, jakiś niewielki prostokąt,
kawałek wydarty z szosy. Potem wszedłbym na tą rozgrzaną masę w starych
butach i by się przykleiły do podłoża. Wyjąłbym stopy z butów. I stanął
jakoś poza tym prostokątem. Wrzuciłbym też do asfaltu stare okulary z
rozbitymi szkłami, strzęp spodni, kawałki lusterka samochodowego.
Wziąłbym stare koło od samochodu, stanął w pewnej odległości od asfaltu
i potoczyłbym je w kierunku asfaltu. Licząc na to że się przewróci tam i
przyklei do rozgrzanego asfaltu. Pewnie by się nie udalo i potoczyłoby
się bliżej lub dalej lub obok. Wtedy nabrałbym rozgrzaną masę asfaltową
na łopatę i polał nią leżące koło. A potem nabierałbym dalej i rozrzucał
asfalt na wszystkie strony, smarowałbym trawę, śnieg, drzewa, psią budę,
wannę i co tam jeszcze byłoby w pobliżu. Mniej więcej tak by to mogło
wyglądać. Pewnie czytałbym też jakieś słowa. A w ogóle tytuły mi się
zmieniały. Miała to być: Autostrada, A long way from home, Accident.

In the face of the desolation, in the face of the absolute terror and suffering I hide in absurdity - Dada was made for the sufferers of the 20th century. Bios, you are its continuation - in the blood soaked 21st century. Let us cling to what we have left in life, of life. Our only choice when the suffering global breath cries so hurts. Rejoice for what is left of love of life.
