Someone said that blogs are great - they are, but you start off writing every day - and then once a week - pretty soon you trickle down to once a month - before you know it - you've forgotten you're password.

She's right.

I think it's time to invest in a few more.

Yup - there's nothing quite like the feeling of armpit sweat dripping down your side.  Except maybe boob sweat trickling down your stomach.

yum.

I think I may barf from the heat in here.  It wouldn't be so bad if I was outside - but, hot stuffy office with a basically non-functioning air conditioner.   I wish I was at a lake right now.  I could do my work from the beach, couldn't I?  Someone get me a laptop.

Amazing how we observe the same things and see completely different things.  can we ever be partial?  I don't think it possible.

Why do you think we have newspapers such as the National & the Globe and Mail - ultra conservative -  Every bit of experience and thought and spirit changes your perceptions.  I was reminded of this yesterday while taking communication training through work.  how we can better communicate at work and daily at home.

Now you could make it easy and associate with "like-types" maybe?  Seems awfully hard though. And not very interesting...  with whom would you argue, er, debate with.

Anyhow, despite my tripping over my tongue sometimes (and fingers while typing) and my great hearing - sarcastic note - I think I am a good listener, although I have a tendancy to jump in when/where I shouldn't, and I think I am a great communicator.

Unintentional spelling mistake - but I like it.

I certainly seem to like my red wine lately.  And these little guys keep dive bombing my wine. Sort of like those buzzing thoughts I was talking about last night. MMMMmmmrrrrrow - Kpshhhhhhhh

I like sound effects.  And apparently other people notice it.  I've been commented on it in the past couple of weeks.  Odd thing I think. I wonder if my soul, my spirit enjoys it.  I think it likes drums though - any kind of drums.  I'm going to pick up a cheap set and see what happens.  I'm using my daughter as an excuse to buy them - but why can't I indulge myself once in a while?  Kind of a weird gift to ones self - unless you're already a musician, but I figure that's also part of my spirit.  I can tell I'm getting close to my niche.

I think everyone should  go indulge themselves - in a way that makes you laugh and smile from the inside out, unadulterated joy.  I felt that on Saturday painting the kids' faces.  I think being with such pure souls, being creative made my spirit soar!

Go on, you can do it, make yourself laugh!

Not sure where I'm going with this one today -

Sitting here biting down on my fingers ( and nails) like they're my last meal, wondering what else is out there. Too many thoughts buzzing through my head tonight. I'm tired - I'm hungry - but I've felt worse - and I can remedy both those problems right away, not like I'm starving.

thinking of words I like - words I dislike - words I think there should be.  good blog topics for another day.  Music - instruments - love - war - newspapers - photos - food - gardens - industrial agriculture

just the tip of the ice berg of the flashes that zip through my head - going to read or listen to music or eat or sleep or something.

Kids are amazing.  Sometimes as a parent, I get tired of being with kids, and tired of kids, period.  So sometimes it takes something to push me "outside" my box - or comfort zone to appreciate kids as what they are - people.

I work for a not-for-profit inner city charity that helps to feed, house and nuture those who need it.  This afternoon we had our annual street BBQ in front of our men's shelter.  We set up a kids area - which I didn't really want to be in charge of.  But since my own daughter was with me, it was the best place for us to be.

Not very many kids showed up, but the ones that did, once they opened up, were just these amazing minds.  An older girl I'd say 11 or 12 that came with her wonderful grandmother and energetic little brother, sat bored until I brought out the face paints.  I started by painting the little kids faces - a good warm up.  She eventually wandered over and started asking me questions, and watching out for her brother - keeping an eye on some of the out of hand patrons.  Don't worry folks - the kids area was "quaratined" from the rest of the area - that way the kids & parents didn't have to stand in line and they could eat in peace (and shade!)

Anyhow - this girl - Ally I believe her name was.  Was just this beautiful young woman - and very conscious of those around her.  And quite the artist.  She started asking me questions about face painting - I eventually passed down the brush to her - and she was a natural!  Meanwhile her brother was playing some sort of mock volleyball game tiring out one of our volunteers.  We had a really good time with the kids - and their parents!

It's nice to remember that we're all just people regardless of race, colour, creed, income or situation.  I think each volunteer in the kids area fell in love with one of those kids, and it would be nice to think we gave them a fun afternoon.  Josephine had an absolute blast - and wasn't really phased by the line up of hundreds of homeless and/or unfortunate people waiting for food.  And Ally?  I sent her home with one of our face painting kits.

See what I mean about a paper and pen?!

I totally had a great blog going this afternoon - tried to publish it, and the damn thing crashed.  Couldn't log on all afternoon.  I finally get back, and?  My blog?  Lost in nothingness, actually I can't even say that since the name of my blog is nothingness... and it's not lost here.

*sigh*

I'm going to have a glass of red wine.  I'll talk to y'alls later.

So - whilst (I love that word) looking at care2.com today - I found a neat concept.  They are making news YOU want to know about the important news issues.  You can post a new article you think is news worthy and people will "note" them - the most popular items become "front page news"

I think this is a great idea - news that other-like minded people care about.  A great way to filter through the  fluff.

And in sifting through all this great news, well, much of it not great - just newsworthy - I came across an article that, although doesn't surprise me much, it does disturb me.  So I thought I'd share go to the New York Times to read the full article on Neo-Nazi's in the US Military.

I got the heebie-jeebies reading this article and ended up with goose-bumps on my arm after reading about the race war and ethnic cleansing.  I just really don't understand the hatred.

So - I'm finding that writing feels so much better with a pen and paper.  And I guess that's why I have a hard time blogging.  It's faster to type that's for sure - but there's something about the pen and paper that's so personal and physical and grounding.

I also seem to find that I don't actually want people to read what I blog.  But that's where I need to separate myself.  Journal what I need to journal - and make public what I need to make public.

That's it, that's all.
