TOP OF THE WORLD

Such a feelin's comin' over me
There is wonder in 'most ev'ry thing I see
Not a cloud in the sky, got the sun in my eyes
And I won't be surprised if it's a dream

Everything I want the world to be
Is now comin' true especially for me
And the reason is clear, it's because you are here
You're the nearest thing to heaven that I've seen

I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around
Your love's put me at the top of the world

Somethin' in the wind has learned my name
And it's tellin' me that things are not the same
In the leaves on the trees and the touch of the breeze
There's a pleasin' sense of happiness for me

There is only one wish on my mind
When this day is through I hope that I will find
That tomorrow will be just the same for you and me
All I need will be mine if you are here

I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around
Your love's put me at the top of the world

I'm on the top of the world lookin' down on creation
And the only explanation I can find
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around
Your love's put me at the top of the world

ONLY YESTERDAY

After long enough of being alone
Everyone must face their share of loneliness
In my own time nobody knew
The pain I was goin' through
And waitin' was all my heart could do

Hope was all I had until you came
Maybe you can't see how much you mean to me
You were the dawn breaking the night
The promise of morning light
Filling the world surrounding me
When I hold you

Baby, baby, feels like maybe, things will be all right
Baby, baby, your love's made me

Free as a song, singin' forever

Only yesterday when I was sad and I was lonely
You showed me the way to leave the past and all its tears behind me
Tomorrow maybe even brighter than today
Since I threw my sadness away
Only yesterday

I have found my home here in your arms
Nowhere else on earth I'd really rather be
Life waits for us, share it with me
The best is about to be
So much is left for us to see
When I hold you

Baby, baby, feels like maybe, things will be all right

Baby, baby, your love's made me
Free as a song, singin' forever

Only yesterday when I was sad and I was lonely
You showed me the way to leave the past and all its tears behind me
Tomorrow maybe even brighter than today
Since I threw my sadness away
Only yesterday

PLEASE MR. POSTMAN

(Stop)
Oh yes, wait a minute Mister Postman
(Wait)
Wait Mister Postman

Please Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time
(Oh yeah)
For me to hear from that boy of mine

There must be some word today
From my boyfriend so far away
Pleas Mister Postman, look and see
If there's a letter, a letter for me

I've been standin' here waitin' Mister Postman

So patiently
For just a card, or just a letter
Sayin' he's returnin' home to me

(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time
(Oh yeah)
For me to hear from that boy of mine

So many days you passed me by
See the tears standin' in my eyes
You didn't stop to make me feel better
By leavin' me a card or a letter

(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see

(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time

(Why don't you check it and see one more time for me, you gotta)
Wait a minute
Wait a minute
Wait a minute
Wait a minute
(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see

(C'mon deliver the letter, the sooner the better)
Mister Postman

CALLING OCCUPANTS OF INTERPLANETARY CRAFT

In your mind you have capacities you know
To telepath messages through the vast unknown
Please close your eyes and concentrate
With every thought you think
Upon the recitation we're about to sing

Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
Calling occupants of interplanetary, most extraordinary craft

Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
Calling occupants of interplanetary, most extraordinary craft

You've been observing our earth
And we'd like to make a contact with you
We are your friends

Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
Calling occupants of interplanetary ultra emissaries

We've been observing your earth
And one night we'll make a contact with you

We are your friends
Calling occupants of interplanetary quite extraordinary craft

And please come in pace we beseech you
(Only of love we will teach you)
Our earth may never survive (So don't come we beg you)

Please interstellar policemen
Won't you give us a sign give us a sign that we've reached you

With your mind you have ability to form
And transmit thought energy far beyond the norm
You close your eyes, you concentrate, together that's the way
To send a message we declare World Contact Day

Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
Calling occupants of interplanetary, most extraordinary craft

Calling occupants
Calling occupants
Calling occupants of interplanetary, anti-adversary craft
We are your friends

HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS

Christmas future is far away
Christmas past is past
Christmas present is here today
Bringing joy that will last

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on our troubles
Will be out of sight

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Make the yuletide gay
From now on your troubles
Will be miles away

Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a Merry Little Christmas now

JINGLE BELLS

Dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh
And o'er the fields we go laughing all the way.
The bells on bobtail ring making spirits bright.
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.

Day or two ago I thought I'd take a ride

And soon Miss Fanny Bright was seated by my side.
The horse was lean and lank, misfortune seemed his lot,
He got into a drifted bank and we, we got upsot.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.

Now the ground is white; go it while you're young,
Take a ride tonight and sing this sleighing song.

Just get a bobtailed bay, two-forty for his speed;
Then hitch him to an open sleigh and crack you'll take the lead.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.

13- OUR CHRISTMAS CORNER > CHRISTMAS IS CELEBRATION OF THE HEART...
Posted: Dec.04.2006 @ 8:05 pm | Lasted edited: Sep.14.2008 @ 6:26 pm

                                                            CHRISTMAS IS A

                                                    CELEBRATION

                                                       OF THE HEART ...

        OUR  MESSAGE
(Renato)
 .

May
Seeds of love
From heaven
Find
In our hearts
A bed to grow
And spread their light
Upon the world

Man must
Save himself
From himself
Thus saving
Earth
and all
As well

.
Let us learn
To give up
The ways
That deny life
To our future

FOR THE CHILDREN OF TOMORROW

It's time to think of them
It's time to plan tomorrow
A dream of hope that can
Erase from life the sorrow

Are we trying so hard
To build a world undone?

             .

OUR    SONGS :

                        OH   HOLY   NIGHT      (Whitney Houston)

 O holy night.
The stars are brightly shining.
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth. (Oh yes it is now.)
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
'Til He appeared
And the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope
The weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks
A new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees
O hear the angels' voices
O night divine
O  night when Christ was born
O night
O holy, holy night
O night divine

Fall on your knees
O hear the angels' voices
O night divine
O  night when Christ was born
O night
O night
O holy night
O night divine

.

       JOY TO THE WORLD
 (Michael Bolton)

Joy to the world! The Lord has come
Let earth receive her king
Let every heart, prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven, and Heaven and nature sing

Joy to the world! The Saviour reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy

He rules the world
With truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders and wonders
Of His love

I'M DREAMING OF A WHITE
CHRISTMAS
(The Canterbury Chorale)

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
And children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all of your Christmases be white

I'm, I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

.

     SILENT  NIGHT
      (Frank Sinatra)

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born...

     ONE GOD
     (Barbra Streisand)

Millions of stars placed in the skies
By One God
Millions of us lift up our eyes
To One God
So many children calling to him
By many a different name
One father
Loving each the same
Many the ways all of us pray
To one God
Many the paths
Winding their way
To One God
Brothers and sisters there are no strangers
After his work is done
For your God and my God
Are one
So many children calling out loud
By many a different name
One father
Loving each the same
Many the ways all of us pray
To one God
Many the paths winding their way
To One God
Brothers and sisters there were no strangers
After the world was done
Our God, yes your God, and My God
ARE ONE!!!!!

WESTERN STARS  Lyrics

K.D. LANG

Western stars light up the sky
Hear the desert wind roll by
Tonight, tonight

Western stars can break your heart
They keep shinin' when we're apart
Tonight, tonight

I watch, I wait
How long will my heart ache
Tonight, oh tonight
I watch, I wait
My heart is bound to break
Tonight

Western stars light up the sky
Tonight I'm alone to cry
Tonight

I watch, I wait
My heart is bound to break
Tonight
(repeat*)
Tonight, tonight

DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE

MADELEINE PEYROUX

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic 'til I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove

Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of

Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above

Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn

Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove

Dance me to the end of love

I´VE GOT A CRUSH ON YOU
 STEVE TYRELL

I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie
All the day and night-time give me sigh
I never had the least notion that
I could fall with so much emotion

Could you coo, could you care
For a little cottage we could share
The world will pardon my mush
'Cause I have got a crush on you

Could you coo, could you care
For a country cottage
That we could share
The world will pardon my mush
'Cause I have got a crush, my baby, on you

AND SO
WE BEGIN

with a song
an old one
recently recorded by
Barry Manilow
in his last CD (“THE GREATEST SONGS OF THE FIFTIES” ) :

1- "What A Difference A Day Made"

What a difference a day made, twenty four little hours
Brought the sun and the flowers where there used to be rain
My yesterday was blue dear, today I’m part of you dear
My lonely nights are through dear, since you said you were mine.
What a difference a day makes, there’s a rainbow before me.
Skies above can’t be stormy, since that moment of bliss
That thrilling kiss…….
It’s heaven when you find romance on your menu
What a difference a day made and the difference is you.
It’s heaven when you find romance on your menu…
What a difference a day made and the difference is you.

SONGS FOR FEELING AND THINKING

ELTON JOHN

___  __

2- SACRIFICE

It's a human sign
When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation's strong
Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands
Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through
And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
It's no sacrifice at all
Mutual misunderstanding
After the fact
Sensitivity builds a prison
In the final act
We lose direction
No stone unturned
No tears to damn you
When jealousy burns
Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through
And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
It's no sacrifice at all

3- YOUR SONG

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen.
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

SONGS MIXING FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS

SONGS MIXING
FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS

YOU KNOW THAT WORDS CAN BE INFINITE IN POSSIBILITIES -
FOR THEY ARE FEELINGS THAT ARE NEVER EVER FELT
THE SAME WAY –
EACH TIME IT’S A DIFFERENT APREHENSION,
A DIFFERENT PERCEPTION,
A DIFFERENT EXPRESSION...

THE MOMENT YOU APREHEND - YOU FEEL -
AND YOU FEEL YOURSELF IN A NEW FEELING –
WHAT MAKES YOU WONDER:
AM I FEELING THE SONG
OR THE SONG IS FEELING ME -
OR THE SONG IS REVEALING A FEELING IN ME UNKNOWN TILL NOW?

MAYBE ALL WE CAN DO IS FEEL OUR OWN FEELINGS
AND EVERYTHING THERE IS
WILL ALWAYS BE OUR OWN FEELINGS
IN INFINITE POSSIBILITIES
THAT CAN NEVER BE THE SAME,
THAT ARE NEVER EQUAL,
THAT ARE NEVER EXACTLY AS THEY WERE BEFORE...

AND NATURE FOLLOWS THE SAME TRUTH –
EVERYTHING IN NATURE IS UNIQUE,
NEVER THE SAME –
EACH DAY,
EACH MOONRISE,
EACH DROP OF RAIN,
EVERY BIRD SONG,
EACH AND EVERY TIME
IS DIFFERENT
BECAUSE IT FEELS DIFFERENT, DIFFERENTLY –
AND SO - IT IS DIFFERENT
.

AND ALL THINKING CAN DO
IS REASON ALL THAT
AND CONFIRM ITS FATE –
FEELING THE FEELING AS ITS CONSTANT MATE.

THINKING IS ALSO
A SPECIAL WAY OF FEELING –
SLOWER,
LESS CONSCIOUS OF ITS EVER CHANGING NATURE,
A LITTLE NAÏVE IN BELIEVING
THAT THERE IS SUCH A THING AS TRUTH,
OR A TRUTH THAT IS,
THAT IS ALWAYS THE SAME, THAT REMAINS
– EVERYTHING CHANGES,
– AND NOTHING EVER IS THE SAME
– – EVEN REASON,
– EVEN RATIONALITY,
– EVEN THOUGHTS…

AND THESE WORDS
ARE SOLELY
A MOMENT,
A MOMENT OF FEELING ….
NEVER TO BE AGAIN…
AS EACH TIME IT IS READ,
IT WILL BE PERCEIVED,
FELT,
THOUGHT,
UNDERSTOOD
DIFFERENTLY,
EVEN IF THE DIFFERENCE
IS SUBTLE,
MINIMUM…

FOR SOME SENSIBILITIES,
SMALL DIFFERENCES
CAN MAKE A TREMENDOUS
DIFFERENCE…

JUST THE WAY YOU ARE

Don't go changing, to try and please me,
You never let me down before,
Don't imagine, you're too familiar,
And I don't see you anymore.
I would not leave you, in times of trouble,
We never could have come this far,
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times,
I'll take you just the way you are.
Don't go trying, some new fashion,
Don't change the colour of your hair,
You always have my, unspoken passion,
Although I might not seem to care.
I don't want clever, conversation,
I never want to work that hard,
I just want someone, that I can talk to,
I want you just the way you are.
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew,
What will it take till you believe in me,
The way that I believe in you?
I said I love you, and that's forever,
And this I promise from the heart,
I couldn't love you, any better,
I love you just the way you are.
I don't want clever, conversation,
I never want to work that hard,
I just want someone, that I can talk to,
I want you just the way you are.

THE LOOK OF LOVE

The look of love
Is in your eyes
The look your smile can't disguise
The look of love
Is saying so much more
Than just words could ever say
And what my heart has heard
Well it takes my breath away
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
You've got the look of love
It's on your face
A look that time can't erase
Be mine tonight
Let this be just the start
Of so many nights like this
Let's take a lover's vow
And then seal it with a kiss
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Don't ever go
Don't ever go
I love you so
I can hardly wait to hold you
Feel my arms around you
How long I have waited
Waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Don't ever go
Don't ever go
Don't ever go

I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN

I've got you under my skin
I have got you deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart, you're really a part of me
And I've got you under my skin
I have tried so, not to give in
I've said to myself this affair it never would go so well
But why should I try to resist when I know so well
That I've got you under my skin
I would sacrifice anything come what might
For the sake of havin' you near
In spite of a warning voice, that comes in the night and repeats in my ear
Don't you know you fool, you never can win
Use your mentality, wake up to reality
But each time I do, just the thought of you makes me stop before I begin
Because I've got you under my skin
I would sacrifice anything come what might
For the sake of havin' you near
In spite of a warnin' voice, comes in the night and repeats to my ear
Don't you know you fool, never can win
Use your mentality, wake up to reality
But each time I do, just the thought of you makes me stop before I begin
Because I've got you under my skin

1- HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE

I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I wanna feel you in my arms again
And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love and then softly leave
And it's me you need to show
CHORUS:
How deep is your love
I really need to learn 'cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You're the light in my deepest darkest hour
You're my saviour when I fall
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside
That I really do
And it's me you need to show
CHORUS:
How deep is your love ...

2- MORE THAN A WOMAN

Oh, girl I've known you very well
I've seen you growing everyday
I never really looked before
But now you take my breath away.

Suddenly you're in my life
Part of everything I do
You got me working day and night
Just trying to keep a hold on you.

Here in your armsI found my paradise
My only chance for happiness
And if I lose you now I think I would die.
Oh say you'll always be my baby
We can make it shine, we can take forever
Just a minute at a time.
More than a woman, more than a woman to me
More than a woman, more than a woman to me
More than a woman, oh, oh, oh.
There are stories old and true
Of people so in love like you and me
And I can see myself Let history repeat itself.
Reflecting how I feel for you
Thinking about those people then
I know that in a thousand years
I'd fall in love with you again.
This is the only way that we should fly
This is the only way to go
And if I lose you I know I would die.

Oh say you'll always be my baby
We can make it shine, we can take forever
Just a minute at a time.

WELCOME TO THIS MUSICAL PAGE:

1- "LAMB OF GOD"

(Take 6)
(To know more about the group = read below)

Your only Son
No sin to hide
But You have sent Him,
From Your side
To walk upon this guilty sod
And to become the Lamb of God

Your gift of Love
They crucified
They laughed and scorned him as he died
The humble King
They named a fraud
And sacrificed the Lamb of God

Chorus:
Oh Lamb of God, Sweet lamb of God
I love that Holy Lamb of God
Oh wash me in His precious Blood
My Jesus Christ the Lamb of God

Holy, Holy, Holy, Merciful and Mighty
King of Kings
and Lord of Lords
oh Lamb of God
sweet Lamb of God
I love that Holy Lamb of God
Oh wash me in that precious blood
My Jesus Christ the Lamb of God

for A CAPELLA lovers...

Take 6

http://www.singers.com/take6.html

This award-winning Christian sextet broke new ground in a cappella in the '80s, paving the way for the popular revival of R&B vocal groups. Their jazz harmonies, original songs and vocal pyrotechnics represent some of the best a cappella ever recorded.

Back in 1980, Claude McKnight formed an a cappella quartet, The Gentlemen's Estate Quartet, at Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was a freshman. He auditioned fellow students for the hobby group. The Gentlemen were rehearsing in a campus bathroom, getting ready for a performance, when Mark Kibble walked by and heard them singing. He joined the harmonizing, adding a fifth part, and ended up singing with them onstage that very night. Mark later invited Mervyn Warren to join the group, and the sound of Take 6 was born. Although the sonic structure was now firmly in place, the name was not; the group performed under the moniker "Alliance."

The group performed in local churches and on campus over the next years, with members changing due to college's inevitable comings and goings. In 1985, the lower half of the group (bass, baritone, and second tenor) left upon graduating. At that time, Alvin Chea, Cedric Dent, and David Thomas joined.

The group was signed to Warner Brothers, Nashville in 1987, and quickly changed its name to "Take 6" after a name search revealed that "Alliance" was already being used. Their eponymous debut album, released in 1988, won them two Grammy Awards and resulted in top ten appearances on both the Billboard Contemporary Jazz and Contemporary Christian Charts. Take 6's swinging, harmony-rich gospel sound attracted a flurry of attention, and the group went on to record or appear with a number of luminaries, including Quincy Jones, Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder. In 1991 Mervyn Warren left the group to pursue a career as a producer, and Joey Kibble, Mark's younger brother, was invited to round out the vocal lineup. The group added instrumentation to their purely a cappella sound beginning with the record "So Much To Say"; "He Is Christmas," "Join The Band" and "Brothers" continued their streak of success, and Take 6 amassed a total of seven Grammys and eight Dove awards, as well as topping the Downbeat Magazine's Reader's and Critic's poll for seven years' consecutively!

Take 6's 1998 release, "So Cool," brings the group back to its a cappella origins. The group will be touring worldwide beginning in October, and will be appearing on various television entertainment programs as well as high-profile commercials ("Gatorade" with Michael Jordan, as well as others). This is the tenth anniversary of their first release, and from their modest beginnings as an a cappella gospel group to their current status as multiple Grammy Award winners, Take 6 has redefined the standards for vocal music. Indeed, the vocal group craze that's currently sweeping the R&B world was touched off in part by the revelatory emergence of Take 6 in 1988. Hot contemporary R&B acts like "Boyz II Men" and "Coming of Age" cite Take 6 as a major influence. The group themselves, never content to rest on their substantial laurels, continues to grow and evolve; one of the members even earned his Doctorate in Music! Their talent, hard work and Christian faith has earned them their place as one of the most enduring and best-loved groups in all a cappella.

Formed at Alabama's Oakwood College in the early 1980s, Mark and Joey Kibble, Cedric Dent, Alvin Chea, David Thomas and Claude McKnight were signed by Reprise and released "Take 6" nationally in 1988. That year they blew away the '88 Grammy show audience with "Spread Love," and incredibly won Grammies for both best Jazz and best Gospel group. On their way to "Feels Good," their 12th CD, the versatile sextet has broken down barriers between the musical genres of Jazz, Gospel and Soul and built a massive, broad-based group of devoted fans. An accompanied album, "Join the Band" and 1997's "Brothers" both won Grammies. After 20 years with Warner Bros., their final release was "Beautiful World," an album of accompanied re-interpreted pop/soul classics. But in 2006 the group returned to their a cappella and gospel (at least in subject matter) roots with the release of "Feels Good," forming their own label, "Take 6 Records," in the process. The group is poised, tight and energized, breezing through their strongest set, of mostly original material, since their first head-turning releases in 1988 and 1990. Thomas's joyous "Come On" sets the tone, and Mark Kibble's title tune, Dent and Kibble's "Family of Love," the powerful, profound "Lamb of God," the smooth, rhythmic "More Than Ever," the surprising, re-invented cover of "Just In Time," and McKnight's R&B/Pop gem "Set U Free" keeps the party going. The usual perfect harmonies, strong group songwriting (and outside song selection) and arrangements, and Take 6's return to that good old a cappella all left us with a big smile on our face, like we got when we first heard "Spread Love" back in '88. Welcome back, guys, and bless you!

Its a beautiful world according to Take 6 and a beautiful body of work for their fans across the board. The 10th offering from the sextet is simply called 'Beautiful World'. Although accompanied by instruments played by the six members themselves, the vocal arrangement shine through like the earlier material that originally gave the group their offical stamp in a cappella. Unlike their last studio CD 'So Cool' which was all original material, this entire project is comprised of Pop, R&B, and gospel standards. 'Wade in the Water' and 'Peace in the Valley' are gospel gems reminiscent of 'Get Away Jordan' and 'Mary dont you Weep'. 'People Get Ready' (Curtis Mayfield) with soaring heights and winding riffs takes you for a whole new ride. 'Lovely Day' (Bill Withers) and 'Loves in Need' (Stevie Wonder) are instantly recognizable, but revamped rethoughtand rearranged in a way that only Take 6 can do. Our favorite is the thought provoking 'Fragile' (Sting) where the haunting melody is kept over lush and thick harmonies you expect to hear from Take 6. Dont be surprised if the 13 new songs from 'Beautiful World' make you a fan all over again.

The remarkable Take 6 are back with "So Cool"-and it's ninety percent a cappella. A percussive embellishment here and there augments the groove, but otherwise, it's pure vocal symmetry. Though a Christian group, their sound actually synopsizes several genres and cannot be definitively characterized. The jazz influence can be heard in the lustre of the chords and harmonies; the execution is always on the mark (The "Singers Unlimited" are one of the group's primary influences). The gospel feel is heard in songs such "Fly Away," which also derives it's rhythm and vocal inflection from calypso. "Evermore" is smooth and lush, and has a sophisticated contemporary polish and the fresh feel that is often heard on contemporary urban radio. In short, in returning to their point of origin as a vocal band, the group has produced a CD that you will want to own.

The influence of the Christian Contemporary group Take 6 cannot be overstated. They, in turn, cite as one their own inspirations Gene Puerling of the Singers Unlimited. Their pedigree is such that the members of this stellar sextet have graced the recordings of many chart-topping artists and movie soundtracks as well (one track, "Setembro," is from "Boyz In The Hood"). Two songs from this collection, "The Best Stuff In The World Today Cafe," and "One And The Same," have never been released before. Many of the cuts are percussion accompanied, though several are purely a cappella; regardless, if only to hear the pristine voices and the impeccably constructed harmonic voicings, repeated listening is advised. Stylistically, the group has a gospel/funk flavor with a jazzy overtone, courtesy of the signature chords that have become associated with the Take 6 sound. A excellent gift and introduction to the group, with enough new material to satisfy the appetite of the seasoned aficionado.

Brothers (1996)

Sing A Song
You Don't Have To Be afraid
I'll Be There
Delilah
Chance of a Lifetime
Can't Stop Thinking 'Bout You
Jesus Makes Me Happy
We Don't Have To Cry
Do Right
Don't Let Go

In the fullness of a fabulously successful recording career it is axiomatic that the artists may do whatever they please to enhance their self expression. Therefore it would be wrong of this reviewer to bemoan the orchestration of one of the finest a cappella groups who ever harmonized (moan). There, that's out of my system. This is still an important album to those of us who have all their prior and subsequent releases. Vocally, the individual voices of whomever happens to be the lead singer at the moment is more prominent than on the pure a cappella releases and it is thereby fascinating to hear very clearly the beauty of the individual voices. A note of interest is that six of the ten songs have all the instrumentation played by Brian McKnight, the brother of singer Claude V. McKnight III.

Well it was inevitable that any group as talented as Take Six would constantly expand their horizons. "Join The Band" features electronically synthesized orchestration with drum machines and the occasional saxophone in beautiful arrangements. To satisfy the ear of the a cappella listener there is "My Friend" sung with Ray Charles (yes, The Ray Charles), and two more, including the poignantly beautiful "Lullaby". Even if you consider yourself an a cappella purist and feel that instruments tend to obscure the goal of perfect harmony, as this reviewer does, this recording transcends that petty perspective and is a must for any collection.

Where Do The Children Play?

This second release from 1990 extended the stunning originality of Take Six. Most of the songs on So Much 2 Say are originals, again enhanced by the groups willingness to use any musical tradition. Particularly notable is the marvelously sophisticated use of vocal and body percussion and the vocal horn intro in "I'm On My Way". Occasional sound effects sweetening just seems to enhance the messages and character of the songs, but never fear, the unbelievably tight harmonies and sublime intonation which are the trademark of the group is still the substance of the material which, once again, is mostly written by and always arranged by the members of the group.

Take 6 (1988)

Gold Mine
Spread Love
If We Never Needed The Lord Before (We Sure Do Need Him Now)
A Quiet Place
Mary
David And Goliath
Get Away, Jordan
He Never Sleeps
Milky-White Way
Let The Words

Not just a cappella fans but the whole musical world perked up their ears when six young singers transformed the gospel world with their jazz arrangements. The beautiful harmonies and sophisticated arrangements immediately set a standard which has been endlessly copied ever since. Within a single song can frequently be found elements of jazz, soul, rock and R&B on a gospel base. It is no wonder that these singers were tapped to be the winners of two Grammy Awards for their first recording! It is a must for any a cappella collection! Remember this was 1988 and they set the standard by which other great harmony groups such as Boyz II Men were measured and continue to be so judged.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas (1999)

We Wish You A Merry Christmas/ Carol Of The Bells
Whalum's Weather Report
Let It Snow
Go Tell It On The Mountain
The Christmas Song
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
What Child Is This
Silver Bells
Winter Wonderland
Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem
Joy To The World

This consummately-crafted collection of the most popular holiday carols is a joy to listen to. Though selectively accompanied (by saxophone, percussion and guitar) on four tracks, Take 6 is a vocal group, and their arrangements on this CD may be their best yet. They've always had the most brilliant and original sound; now, there is an extra measure of warmth and emotion that glows. The CD's opener, a medley of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas/Carol Of The Bells," combines the progression of the first tune with the signature melody of the latter on the outro; stroke of genius! "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is a crisply executed doo-wop/jazz version, centered around the "shooby-doo-wah" backgrounds. "What Child Is This" is an atmospheric jazz combo version with 3/4 meter; "Winter Wonderland" (a cappella) swings with the jazziest of phrasing and fingersnaps. Take 6 show, once again, why they've been an inspiration to so many.

He Is Christmas (1991)

Silent Night
Oh! He Is Christmas
Hark How The Angels Sing
Away In The Manger
Amen!
The Little Drummer Boy
'Twas The Night Before Christmas
Sweet Little Jesus Boy
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
O Come All Ye Faithful

Contemporary Christian group Take 6 are virtuoso singers with a flawless grasp of harmonic theory. This vocabulary enables them to create arrangements that are resplendent with original ideas, though built on an unassailable foundation. "Silent Night" is a haunting mysterious dance with the familiar melody line, a departure point for the jazz chord voicings that are essential imagery of Take 6. The group's own "Oh!, He Is Christmas" is a sophisticated soul didactic. "Away In A Manger" is rooted in a repeating bass part - the breath of the tune - while the lead is freed up to explore every vocal contour. "Amen" is a smooth gospel-go-round, joyous and bright. If you want uniquely brilliant interpretations of your Christmas favorites, this is the CD for you.

A Take 6 Christmas (arr. Steve Zegree, medley)
A Quiet Place (arr. Jerry Rubino)

(SATB divisi)

One of the most well known A Cappella groups of today, Take 6 continues to amaze us with their beautiful and unique arrangements. 'A Take 6 Christmas' is an exciting medley of classic Christmas carols, including "Silent Night," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "Sweet Little Jesus Boy," and "O Come, All Ye Faithful," as recorded on the He Is Christmas album. In 'A Quiet Place,' the guys take this subtle hymn and turn into a triumphant, yet soothing, gem with lush harmonies and lots of heart.
