Get the way of replacement for your missing teeth with help of Bridges.
Teeth play important role to give out a bright and whiter smile. Healthy teeth are also important for good health. No body wants to loose their own tooth. But people loose their tooth due to various reasons such as of affecting by virus or by an accident. If one or more teeth are missing then the gap remains in between the teeth. Having gaps where teeth are missing affects the way the rest of the teeth bite together. The remaining teeth may tilt and drift into the gaps, and food can be trapped in the spaces which increase the risk of decay and gum disease.

There are various techniques of replacing missing teeth such as bridge, ceramic or porcelain crown available today. If you have only one missing tooth then it is mandatory to replace it, ceramic or porcelain is the best option for this. Bridge is the most common and dependable way of replacing missing teeth. The advantages of a bridge are that it is fixed, stable, and feels like your own teeth. Dental bridges prevent unnatural stress and drift and tilting on other teeth. It also improves function and efficiency of dentures.

A dental bridge is made up of two dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between. Replacing missing teeth with bridges can radically improve a person's smile and the shape of their face. People who are missing one or more teeth are the candidate of dental bridges. Bridge absorbs bright, creating a natural looking smile. Bridges reduce the risk of gum disease, limit the shifting of remaining teeth, help to correct some bite problems and help improve speech. If you are looking for replacement of your missing teeth with bridges don’t be hesitated to reach at 32 Smile Stone, a cost effective dental clinic in New Delhi in India.

The Benefits Of Discounted Dental Plans

The Benefits Of Discounted Dental Plans
There are numerous benefits of discounted dental plans. Some of them are listed below:

Dental Treatment at Less Cost. A penny saved is a penny earned. The best reason to join a discounted dental plan is to save money. The mechanism of a discount dental plan is very simple. The dentists in an area ( the area may be limited to a city or a county or may spread across the country) join together to form a club. If an individual wishes to join this club, he/she will have to pay a certain amount of money periodically, usually monthly or annually. In return the individual gets dental treatment from the discounted dental club at a reduced price. Discounted dental plans work good for the individual because procedures like root canal, extractions, braces, plaque removal, even routine dental checkups are getting costlier by the day. When an individual joins a discounted dental plan, he can expect a savings anywhere from between 20% to 50% on dental treatment. The individual has to pay a small monthly premium, which can be as low as 7 dollars a month for a full coverage dental plan. It also works well for the dentists as their patient base and number of patients' increases.

Better Oral Health. Dental diseases are the most common diseases in the world. It has been observed that people who join discounted dental plans tend to have a better oral health than people who have not joined. This is because as such the member of such plan is paying monthly so he/she tends to approach a dentist more regularly. Regular visits save money as they get dental care in case of a problem at an earlier stage instead of undergoing dental care at a later stage.

Less Paper Work. As discounted dental plans have no claiming etc, the amount of paper work is very less compared to a dental insurance plan.

No Preconditions. Usually there are no precondition exclusions and medical, dental checkups to join a discounted dental plan.

No Approval. The activation of your discounted dental plan is within 48 hours and you don't have to wait for an approval etc.

How To Get Affordable Individual Dental Insurance Plans

How To Get Affordable Individual Dental Insurance Plans
Insurance is a method by which an individual tries to reduce the financial risk of unexpected events. Individual dental insurance is a type of insurance wherein an individual buys an individual dental insurance plan from an insurance company by paying a monthly or annual premium. If during the insurance coverage period, the individual incurs costs on dental treatment, then the insurance company reimburses that costs to the individual.

There are a variety of dental insurance plans available in the market. A search on the internet will give hundreds of results. It is easy to get confused with so many options. However there are basic principles of insurance which when applied can reduce the overall costs to the individual. Some of them are explained below.

Deductibles. When you take dental treatment while under the coverage of a dental insurance plan, you can claim the bill from the insurance company. The company will deduct the deductible and pay the rest to you. Deductible is predefined, so choose a dental insurance plan giving due thought to deductible. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium.

Co-insurance. Co-insurance is the percentage of the dental costs that you will pay and the rest is paid by the insurance company. The higher the co-insurance the lower is the premium.

Individual dental insurance plans are available to individuals only and not through employers, hence they tend to be expensive. If you are a frequent visitor to the dentist, then keep co-insurance and deductibles low, but if you are an occasional visitor, select a plan which has co-insurance and deductibles on the higher side and premium on the lower side.

Individual dental insurance plans are available to lawyers, artists, writers, software freelance programmers, small businessmen, self-employed etc.

9. Asafetida: Another miraculous pain killer! Take a half spoon of it and mix it with bit of lemon juice to make the paste of it. Make this paste Luke warm and apply the mixture with help of cotton ball.
10. Use of Iodine: just a drop of iodine put on the tooth do the job. But you have to be cautious and you should not swallow it.
11. Oil of Oregano: Although it tastes bad and leaves a burning sensation behind after application, it has got natural antibiotic properties.
12. Garlic: Make a paste of garlic and add some rock salt to it. Make a homogeneous mixture to apply on the affected area.

There are few home made preventive measures which can be used effectively to counter the emergence of toothache. After each meal and at bed time, rinse with salty water by adding one tablespoon of salt in 12 ounce water. If this doesn’t work, then use the flossing techniques gently. Every day morning, have a gentle massage of gums by fingers using salt.

Most probably, toothaches start at night when there is little you can try than to swallow the pills of pain killer and wait till medical aid in agony. So, just don’t panic. Search your kitchen shelves and you will find numerous ways to get the relief from pain.

How A Good Oral Hygiene And Teeth Care Can Prolong Your Life
Have you ever heard of the disease called Focal Infection? Well, it won’t surprise me if you have no idea what I am talking about. However, what you should know, and this is very important, is that you stand the risk of contracting a deadly disease that can kill very fast, if you do not have a good oral hygiene and teeth care. For goodness sake keep a regular appointment with both your doctor and dentist.

Focal infection can be easily overlooked, which is why it’s usually very fatal, because the disease can develop in your teeth, gums or the tonsil and be seen as ordinary oral problem if you do not let your dentist look into your mouth regularly.

According to Dr Price, people who have had their teeth root canal treated could develop focal infection. So you can see why it is very important to keep a regular appointment with both your physician and dentist who are trained to recognize signs of focal infection.

Though it could be said that focal infection is not pandemic, but according to Dr Martin H. Fischer, "Focal infection started in a tooth is obviously no trivial matter! From it are destined to flow into the periphery (other gland, organs and tissues) what amounts to unexpected and acute orchronic invalidism at the best, at the worse, death."

Wow, so who wants to be associated with so much Doctor talk when you can prevent focal infection by simply ensuring proper oral hygiene and teeth care? All the oral and teeth care hygiene stuff you need can be found both at the corner shop and online at ridiculously cheap prices, and you can also locate the best dentists in your area online, and keep regular appointments that will prolong your life .

Make oral hygiene and teeth care your daily habit brushing at least twice and flossing once a day for a long sickness free life. Focal infection problem is deadly because people take their oral hygiene and teeth care for granted. Always remember that any problem tooth can predispose focal infection, so take adequate care of problem teeth, gum, tongue and tonsils. These are the organs that focal disease favors.

Finally, Let me repeat that though both your doctor and dentist can detect focal infection, there is no way they can help you if you don’t visit them regularly. Having said that, remember that your oral hygiene and teeth care is your responsibility in the first instance. Do not live without all the teeth care and oral hygiene stuff necessary for sickness free life.

Common Medications for Dental Pain (Part 1)

Common Medications for Dental Pain (Part 1)
The pathophysiology of dental pain is a complex system. The use of combination analgesics that act at multiple pain sites can improve dental pain relief.
Common Medications for Dental Pain (Part 1)
The pathophysiology of dental pain is a complex central and peripheral nervous system process, and the use of combination analgesics that act at multiple pain sites can improve dental pain relief. In general, for the treatment of mild to moderate dental pain, the most appropriate options are:

    * Acetaminophen (Tylenol), 650mg every 4-6 hour as needed for dental pain;
    * Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve), 400mg every 4-6 hours as needed for dental pain; and
    * COX-2-selective inhibitors, celecoxib (Celebrex) and rofecoxib (Vioxx), 25-50mg per day as needed for dental pain.

Acetaminophen: Acetic acid and p-aminophenol, or APAP-commonly known as acetaminophen-is classified as a nonnarcotic pain reliever. Dentists generally use it for mild to moderate dental pain. It acts as both anti-pain and anti-fever. It has rapid painkiller action. Acetaminophen, unlike nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, has little anti-inflammatory action. It generally is safe for acute dental pain. At very high single doses it causes liver damages.

Acetaminophen's dose of 500-650 milligrams is good dental pain-reliever. However, such relief is brief, peaking one hour after administration. Significantly more dental pain relief can be provided by acetaminophen's dose of 1,000 mg. At this dosage, the maximal efficacy of acetaminophen is achieved and last up to four hours after administration. There is no more oral pain relief in dose higher than 1000 mg. Because of this "ceiling-dose" effect, acetaminophen is good shot-term reliever for mild dental pain.

NSAIDs: NSAIDs have been the traditional treatment for moderate dental pain and inflammation. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, ketorolac, flurbiprofen, ketoprofen, diclofenac, aspirin and aspirin derivatives diminish local dental pain. Long-term use of NSAIDs, however, can gastrointestinal distress, bleeding, kidney damages, and cardiovascular problems. Also, NSAIDs have been shown to interact with several high blood pressure drugs, which may compromise blood pressure control. The most common short-term side effects of NSAID usage are upset stomach, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

NSAIDs generally require a higher dose to achieve maximum anti-inflammatory and anti-pain effect. Dosage of 800 mg three times per day may be needed for dental pain. The FDA-recommended daily dose is 2,400 mg. Studies has indicated that no more dental pain reliever is achieved with higher-than-the-recommended dosage. Comparing to acetaminophen, NSAID's are better pain killer, but they act slower and last about the same time (about 4 hours).

COX-2 NSAIDs: COX-2 NSAIDs were developed to limit NSAID's adverse effects. The two COX-2-selective inhibitors, celecoxib (Celebrex) and rofecoxib (Vioxx) are characterized by the following:

    * less risk of GI ulceration than nonselective NSAIDs;
    * similar types of other GI side effects, such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, diarrhea and nausea;
    * lack of effect on platelet function, unlike nonselective NSAIDs;
    * renal toxicity similar to that of other NSAIDS;
    * generally long duration of action, with once-daily administration for rofecoxib and once- or twice-daily administration for celecoxib.

However, while COX-2 therapy may reduce the risk of GI ulcerations, recent evidence indicates that COX-2 therapy may not reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications (heart attacks). This is the reason why Vioxx is currently taken off the US market.

Preventing Postoperative Sensitivity After Dental Fillings

Preventing Postoperative Sensitivity After Dental Fillings
Preventing Postoperative Sensitivity After Dental Fillings
Today, more patients ask their dentists about white fillings because they desire their teeth to appear natural when they laugh, talk and smile. White fillings, also called composite fillings, are made from tooth-colored materials that restore the natural appearance of a decayed or previously filled tooth.

A composite filling generally requires only one visit, during which the tooth is prepared and restored. A benefit of composite fillings, as compared with other dental restorations, is that they require less of the healthy part of a tooth to be took away to hold the filling in place. This is because of composite materials' ability to fuse to teeth adhesively.

Postoperative tooth sensitivity in composite restorations relentlessly continues to be a common, yet unpredictable, problem in dentistry. Such complication is even more unforgiving when the extreme sensitivities occur on teeth that were not sensitive before the restorations were placed. Despite meticulous use of dentin bonding agents, dentists and patients are faced with the sensitivity problem daily. Sometimes the dentist needs to rework these restorations. In rare instances, the dentist has to perform root canal therapy on the painful teeth.

Practitioners have gradually developed many preventive methods to overcome the sensitivity challenge. When postoperative tooth sensitivity is expected, combining two or more of the following "desensitizing" techniques may be necessary. Numerous combinations of the methods have been described and supported by clinicians. The combination technique that I have used with nearly 100 percent success follows:

   1. Use of self-etching primer (such as Kuraray SE Bond, Kuraray America, New York City);
   2. Applying tooth-desensitizing (GLUMA) solutions on the tooth before filling placement;
   3. Laying a thin (about one-half millimeter-thick) resin-reinforced glass ionomer liner on deepest cavity surfaces; and
   4. Inserting a sheet of resin-based "flowable" composite between the tooth and the final filling.

Sensitivities can be also induced by other key events not related to composite placement. For examples:

    * Accidentally burning the pulp during cavity preparation, especially when the remaining dentin is less than 1.5 millimeters thick and when there is inadequate water coolant sprayed during cavity preparation;
    * Not removing all decay; and

Composites are preferable for obvious cosmetic reasons. Your dentist may recommend another material or restorations, if the decayed area is large or is subject to heavy chewing pressure. Other types of white fillings include composite inlays and porcelain inlays and onlays. Inlays and onlays are used to restore teeth that are badly damaged by decay or wear. They may be placed on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth when aesthetics are of concern.

White fillings are more expensive than other dental materials. However, most patients find these natural-looking restorations well worth the extra cost. White fillings, like other dental materials, may need periodic replacement. If the edge of the filling eventually pulls away from the tooth, bacteria can get between the filling and the enamel and eventually may cause new decay underneath the existing filling. Few people may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures in the newly filled tooth for a few days or as long as a week. If the sensitivity continues beyond that time, please contact your dentist. About 1% of those persistent sensitive teeth will require root canal therapy.

Dental implants are a wonderful way to replace one or more missing teeth.

Dental implants are very involved and time consuming, however; it is like having a natural tooth to replace the missing one. Our patients are given the option of dental implants or a bridge to replace one or more missing teeth.

If a patient has bone loss throughout the mouth and has a lower denture that is loose, we recommend dental implants which can help keep the denture in place.

We like to inform our patients of all of their options and let them make an informed decision. We do all procedures in our office without the need to refer to a specialist.

Does an insurance company cover dental implants? About half of the insurance companies are paying for dental implants. We have discovered if they say a dental implant and related services are not a benefit, they consider paying as a bridge instead. We offer CareCredit in our office to help our patients get their dental treatment with monthly payments.

In order for us to make an accurate diagnosis, we must have a current x-ray of the area. If it is determined that our patient is a good candidate, we have them watch a video, we go over the consent form, and make financial arrangements.

The steps for a dental implant:
-- Surgery: the doctor makes an incision in the gum tissue, to place the implant post directly into the bone. With the current x-rays that we have, he is able to determine which implant post is the correct one. He uses a drill to make an entrance site into the bone to place the implant. An x-ray is taken to ensure that the implant is placed correctly. Surgery is less traumatic than the surgery to remove the tooth. Dr. Joe will place sutures that need to be removed by him.
-- A post op appointment and a suture removal appointment are made.
-- Usually three months after the initial surgery, we schedule an appointment for another x-ray to determine if the bone is healing around the implant.
-- If the patient is healing well we will schedule them to uncover the implant post and attach an abutment and take an impression soon thereafter for a crown to be placed on the implant post.
-- The impression is sent to the lab for a custom made implant crown.
-- Three weeks later, your missing tooth is replaced with the crown and your treatment is complete.

So what does all of that mean? The implant post is placed in the bone and the gum tissue and bone heal around it, (it is essentially the root of the tooth). The abutment is the attachment that is placed on top of the implant post. The crown is made and cemented to the abutment. Your missing tooth is now replaced by a natural feeling and a natural looking dental implant and crown.
