The earlier version of the xml/rss feeds at blogtext did not fully validate. The data could still be interpreted correctly and used in xml/rss feed programs.

The latest update to users feeds now validate with all of the popular xml/rss validators found around the web.

You can test your blog entry xml/rss feeds by copying and pasting the link below into the validator you choose. Replaced yourusername with your blogtext username.

Your blog xml/rss feed:
http://www.blogtext.org/yourusername/rss/indexFeed.xml

Validation. These sites check xml/rss for proper validation:

What is XML/RSS?
XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a W3C initiative that allows information and services to be encoded with meaningful structure and semantics that computers and humans can understand. XML is great for information exchange, and can easily be extended to include user-specified and industry-specified tags.

BlogText Updates > Adsense Option Allows User To Earn Money
Posted: Jan.30.2006 @ 6:56 pm | Lasted edited: Nov.05.2008 @ 1:01 pm

A new adsense option in user settings allows users to make money with their blogtext account. By using your Google adsense client id for content, your id will be inserted into Google ads served on your blog.

Adsense System: We have setup the adsense system to display users adsense id's in Google ads 50% percent of the time. This means every other time one of your blog pages is displayed, your Google adsense banner will be shown.

If you already have an adsense account you can type your Google adsense client id into your blog settings. If you need information on finding your Google adsense client id, look below in this entry for "Finding My Google Adsense Id".

If you are not familiar with adsense or do not have an adsense account, to say it simply, Google adsense is our way of placing targeted ads on pages. We use Google adsense for displaying advertisements. Google adsense displays ads that are related to the content that is on any given page. This is targeted advertising creates revenue. What we are saying now is you can use your Google adsense account on your blogtext pages. This allows you to make money with your blogtext blog. You can sign up for an adsense account with Google using the image below:

Why does blogtext let users make money? Because the users are what this site is all about. It is the users who write the content and make this site work. What better reward for time well spent in the blogtext community?

Finding My Google Adsense Id: You can find your Google adsense id by logging into your Google adsense account at Google's site: https://www.google.com/adsense/account-settings

Once you login click "My Account" at the top. Scroll to the bottom of the page and look for "Property info". Here you will need to look for "Adsense for Content". Your adsense for content number should look like "ca-pub-1234567891123456". When you enter your adsense for content id in the blogtext settings page, you will remove the "ca-" and enter "pub-youradsenseidhere" without the quotes.

Saying we like our users is an understatement. We like you guys more than you know. We are working on a new feature that will allow you to run your own adsense ads on your blogtext blog.

As you already know blogtext allows you to run your own blog and photo blog. A new feature that will be released soon, will allow you the user make money on your blogtext blog. This can be done using your googles adsense account.

If you are familiar with Googles adsense this will be easier for you to understand. If you would like to sign up for a google adsense account and find out more about what it is, use the image below.

Adsense Quick Note: Depending upon the content that is on a given blogtext page, google adsense will generate text advertisements related to that content. In its basic form it creates advertisements based on what is on the web page.

We use google adsense ads because they are non intrusive text ads. These ads help us pay the bill for hosting many blogs. We want to give back to our users by sharing the profits fifty / fifty. That means if your blog received 50 page views 25 of those page views will show your adsense banner, allowing you to make money off of your blog.

When this feature is up and running an email will be sent out with information along with a post in our help blog.

As you may have noticed the past couple of days many entries were missing from blogs and users could not sign in. We were running database maintenance when something went wrong. As the optimize was running more and more entries started to disappear. When it was realized that a lot of entries were missing we decided to stop users from signing in. This would prevent data corruption/confusion and an easy fix.

The only data missing during the last three days were users blog entries. Not to be taken lightly, blog entries are very important.

Many urgent messages were sent to our host asking to retrieve important daily database backups, it wasnt until today that our request was noticed. Not many minutes before this post, our data is restored. The data has been replaced. The three day delay in response from our host was very frustrating for us.

With a deep sincerity, I apologize for the inconvenience.

There some new changes to blogtext that include the member section of their blog account.

The blog entry editor has been changed to allow the users to change the date the entry was entered. There is also a new feature to allow the entry to be rated. Details of entry rating will be detailed out soon.

Another improvement that rocketman and a lot of others users will enjoy is the change that merged the intro text and extended text into the same field. If you dont know what these means, its ok not to know.

More to come, stand by. Have thoughts? Leave comments.

As you have noticed some things at blogtext. are changing. Work is being done to complete project and feature updates. The fix to the missing file has been corrected and everything should continue as always.

More than likely the extended part of users entries will be fazed out. This will make blogging for some a lot easier as we have noticed the extended parts of entries getting dots or the word text.

All of our users are encouraged to write the help email address with ideas and suggestions. Things we have in mind:

Polls - Allow users to create their own polling questions

Guestbook - To allow users visitors to leave messages

Photo Album Subscribe - Allow user visitor to get email notification of new photo's submitted

Several important changes to the photo album have gone into affect. When browsing images inside an album visitors can navigate through the images a lot easier with the next and previous links at each image.

There is also a slide show feature that allows users to browse album images faster and efficiently. You can see the slide show feature in action here. You examples of these new features at this link.
