Ako, even if I am thousand miles away I made sure that I get to share the moment with my wife and son as I sent SMS for minute after minute account of what's happening. Is my son shy, active or moody? Is the school room comfortable and safe? Does the teacher look pretty? Is my son participating in the class? All those sorts of questions and more... I even phoned my wife as I was not satisfied with the speed of communication via SMS.

My son actually was a little bit shy and uncomfortable during that first class. He didn't want my wife to leave him inside the classroom so Rhea had to stay at the back of the room. I expected this since this is how Ian always behave on all of his "first time" moments.

Yesterday was another story. My son actually adjusted pretty fast to school. He let my wife go outside the classroom to wait. He even got a star for answering correctly and afterwards said to Rhea "na very good ako ni mam" while pointing to his head as if saying how smart he is hehe. My wife and I were very happy during our conversation over the phone yesterday. Maybe this is what parenting is all about. You share the moments (good or bad), teach your kid, nurture his life skills, care for him and give the all the love in the world.

Can't wait to go back home again because of this. I am homesick (as usual) but happy to know that my son is in school doing fine so far and my wife is also enjoying this new chapter in our family's life.
