| Otoplasty is very effective in restoring the normal proportions of the
ears and in restoring a sense of balance to the head and face in
general. Many young female patients treated by a North Carolina cosmetic surgeon relate that they enjoy wearing their hair up for the first time following a Raleigh otoplasty. |

| North carolina otoplasty
is performed through an incision which is hidden on the posterior
surface of the ear, and involves placing permanent sutures in the
cartilage to produce a natural-appearing fold. The ear cartilage may
also be anchored closer to the head with permanent sutures, and in a few
patients some cartilage may be removed. Patients will be advised by
their Raleigh plastic surgeon
to wear a protective head dressing for one week postoperatively, and
they must not participate in sports or Physical Education activities for
eight weeks following otoplasty surgery. |

| In most cases, the ear cartilage folds as it develops, which allows the
ear to rest relatively close to the scalp. When this fold does not form
(or does not fully form) the ears protrude away from the scalp, creating
prominent ears. This may occur bilaterally or on one side only. By age
6, the ear has reached approximately 85% of its adult size and at this
age or after is an appropriate time for North Carolina otoplasty surgery.
It is also an age at which teasing about the size and prominence of a
child's ear(s) is likely to begin, which is further impetus for having
the surgery performed. A Raleigh plastic surgeon is capable of helping a patient of any age with their ear troubles. |

| Patients with relatively small 'jowls' and minimal neck skin laxity can obtain a very nice improvement using a Raleigh facelift technique with a short incision. A better term, however, might be "Mini-facelift", as no North Carolina plastic surgeon
can guarantee a two-day recovery, and patients' expectations may be
inappropriately heightened by the promise of a big improvement by a
minimal surgery. |

| Many North Carolina plastic surgeons
think that "weekend facelift" is a misleading term, as it suggests
dramatic surgical improvements are possible with minimal surgery. As
with most things which sound too good to be true, so it is with the
"weekend facelift". As you might expect, the degree of improvement one
obtains from surgery is, in general, directly proportional to the
surgeon's effort. An hour of surgery through a shorter incision can not
be expected to produce a result approaching that of a conventional Raleigh facelift. |

| The North Carolina facelift procedure
involves incisions that skirt the contour of the ears, using the
anatomy of the ear to help conceal them. For a full facelift, the
incision starts in the sideburn area, follows the contours of the
junction of the ear with the face, curves behind the earlobe into the
recess between the posterior ear and the neck/scalp, and then extends
into the hairline posteriorly at the top of the ear. When a Raleigh plastic surgeon
make these incisions, he or she will design them so that, once fully
healed, they may be difficult for even a hairdresser to detect. That
goal can often be achieved, and it requires meticulous attention to
every centimeter of the closure. |

| What is currently referred to as a Raleigh facelift usually means some combination of surgical lower North Carolina face rejuvenation
with procedures that are designed to improve other facial aesthetic
areas: the brow and eyelids, the mid-face, and the neck. The combination
of procedures I perform on any patient are customized for that
individual's specific needs and desires, and thus no two 'facelifts' are
exactly alike. |

| The surgical procedure that has traditionally been referred to as a Raleigh facelift
involves mobilizing the skin and soft tissues of the lower face and
jawline (and in most cases, the neck). Followed by advancing them upward
and laterally to eliminate sagging (jowls) and provide the appearance
of improved skin tone. The excess skin is then removed by a North Carolina plastic surgeon. |

Commonly Raleigh laser hair removal treatments and North Carolina laser skin tightening treatments
have involved the application of a cryogen to temporarily numb the skin
area just before it is exposed to the laser. While this process does
much to reduce discomfort, there is an even more effective approach. A
small, box-shaped chamber is applied to the surface of the skin, and
suction pulls the skin area taut underneath, compressing it. The highly
thermal conductive sapphire window on top of the chamber allows the
laser to treat the skin while it is compressed. |

| Over the past ten years, the aesthetic laser industry has sought
continuously to improve the comfort and efficiency of laser procedures;
if you have received raleigh aesthetic laser treatments in the past, you will be pleased to learn that this newest generation of North Carolina laser technology makes those treatments even more accurate and comfortable than before. |
