Well, this topic is mostly the lyric of the songs i like lor, if u like it also then feel free to copy. also let me know some that u like lah, this one is 丁香花 I listened to this song only once when i was in Fuzhou during the winter lunch. I fell in love liao. Only today Chan helped me to get the lyric. Thanks Chan and also Yong Yong in Chongqing :)).

Again, they changed the date for the Engliosh Camp ... I met E this morning that they are considering to go to Hong Kong for during the summer holidays. Who cares ? i don't own any hotel in Penang nor i am in the business line. Wherever they want to go, they go. He told me it is because of the Disneyland. Oh, here they came up with 9000 bahts for a 3 days Disneyland tour. Good bargain.
The English camp for the MEP pupils have changed again to 19 this month. Shit, the date is for the elephant festival in Surin lah.Once a year.
Well, this is part of the life in Thailand. Xiao Gu said that i complained about China and now complian about Thailand. Sp the two countries management are not too far away, in fact, very similiar. |

He says he is not Chinese blood, but his face look like the lang Qia ah pek, don't know lor.he was the first one to question me for my absence. I did not understand his Thai language.
Anne came down on the stairs and also asked me why not going into the class. I told her i was going then. She told me the class was over and then i realised that i missed the class.
I told the class that i was going to makeup for them during the lunch break. But later felt that if i could give them the worksheet two, they don't have to stay there tomorrow.
Fine, will try when the sun comes out. |

New teachers will find this the most challenging aspect of their jobs. Students arrive at the classroom, may or may not be prepared with necessary items, and will expect to be taught. But, without motivation, learning is an elusive goal.
There are two kinds of motivation: extrinsic and intrinsic.
Extrinsic motivation comes in the form of rewards, grades, awards, treats, or other positive outcomes. Extrinsic motivation can also come from punishments or other negative outcomes. In brief, extrinsic motivators focus on what will be given or taken away as a result of an activity or behavior.
Intrinsic motivation comes from within the individual. It is what inherently causes an individual to want to do his or her best, regardless of any reward or punishment.
-
Fact: Extrinsic motivation is short term and has been shown to decrease achievement over time.
-
Fact: With extrinsic motivation techniques, students tend to transfer emphasis to the motivator and not the learning.
-
Fact: Students learn best and retain learning more when they are intrinsically motivated.

Question: How do I motivate my students?
Answer: You don't. You can't. |
Question: So, why are you pestering me with all of this motivation stuff?
Answer: Because it's important to you and to your students. |
Question: So, if I can't motivate my students, what CAN I do?
Answer: I'm so glad you asked . . . . |
|
When we say "he really motivated me" or "she is so motivating," we are not being entirely accurate.
What we mean, more precisely, is that the person we are discussing has been able to successfully tap into our own intrinsic motivation. He or she has found ways to access that part of ourselves which wants to do well, regardless of the external outcomes.
As teachers, we can not motivate our students. What we CAN do is create a motivating environment and practice techniques recognized for their potential to inspire intrinsic motivation.
There are some powerful things you can do to set your students up for a motivating learning experience.
It's not as mysterious as you may think. AND, it's not one of those "you either have it or you don't" things, as many people believe. Yes, some people are more "motivating" than others and they, themselves, can't always explain why. Chances are, these are people who practice the principals of motivation on a second nature basis. But there's no shame in having to purposefully learn to create a motivating classroom. Indeed, it is encouraging to know we CAN learn to foster motivation.
Principles Of Motivation
There are six recognized areas which must be nurtured if you are to promote motivation in your classroom. These are the things which will makes students want to be in your class, want to pay attention, and want to do their best - even if they can't articulate it this way.
Students must: |

How to Promote Motivation
To be motivated students must: |
Feel safe
-
avoid using sarcasm, even mild sarcasm; most students interpret sarcasm as ridicule and will retreat when it is present
-
counsel students privately when they misbehave or have grade concerns
-
do not tolerate student-to-student ridicule or physical threat
-
avoid saying things like "you'd better behave; I know your mother"
-
can you think of other ways to promote a feeling of safety?
|
Feel cared for
-
learn student names as soon as possible
-
use student names in class and in the hall
-
say hello in the hall; greet students at your door
-
listen sincerely when students express themselves
-
can you think of other ways to promote a feeling of being cared for? |
Feel supported
-
use learning strategies that suit your objective
-
never use "trick questions"
-
check for understanding frequently
-
create a classroom handout file and daily assignment log
-
post your objectives and daily work / home work
-
can you think of other ways to promote a feeling of being supported? |
Feel involved
-
provide for limited choices when you plan lessons
-
ask for student input regarding class rules and expectations
-
use small group and pair learning activities
-
survey students periodically about their learning experiences
-
can you think of other ways to promote a feeling of involvement? |
Feel successful
-
avoid meaningless praise; instead offer specific feedback
-
eg: "you colored inside all of the lines this time! instead of eg: "that's terrific! you're super!"
-
inform students when they improve; chart growth progress
-
post student work in the school and your room
-
can you think of other ways to promote a feeling of success? |
Perceive value
-
find a "real" audience for your students' work
-
invite guest speakers/panels to talk about your subject matter in the "real world"
-
plan field trips
-
ask students to brainstorm ways they could use the information their learning
-
can you think of other ways to promote a perception of value? |

This article's focus is motivation and learning for your child. Read and education yourself.A person, especially a student in school, needs to become interested and needs a purpose or a motive to learn effectively. The teacher has a responsibility to every student in his class to motivate each one to learn. This can be very difficult and yet the teacher has such a wonderful opportunity to motivate and promote learning.
For a person to learn there has to be a need to learn and sometimes the student doesn't appreciate this need as it needs to be a conscious need. A teacher needs to understand a student's needs and bring each one to an awareness of this need. When he brings this awareness to the student then he can guide the student and hold his interest in the subject he is teaching. There has to be a recognition of need from the student.
Attention from a student is necessary and essential for learning and this gives a student a feeling of self worth and he wants to put out effort. If a teacher can secure the interest of his pupil and he will do the work assigned and it holds his attention then interest is maintained.
There are two kinds of interest, the positive and the negative. When a student has positive interest in learning he is getting value because it is something he wants to obtain. Now if he is only having negative interest he may still learn a small portion of what is being taught but not to the extent of positive interest. The student needs to have a desire all his own to learn and not an outside pressure wanting him to learn. He will strive to learn if his interest is positive.
If the student already has an interest in the subject a wise teacher can make use of these interests. He can work towards achieving holding this motivation for learning. Before a teacher can hold his student's interest he needs to have an understanding of how interests are obtained, and how purposes develop in individuals that cause an appetite for learning. A person's daily life, his character and his personality determine his drive for learning. This interest can lead him to move to action and want to acquire knowledge. He needs a desire or an urge. He also needs an inner drive for the power of knowledge and learning. He also needs the desire to be active, if he is lazy he will not have desire and urge. He needs to desire new experiences and to learn. The desire to achieve needs to be in connection with the desire to be active. For a person to succeed a student needs to make progress and want this progress to continue.
A student also needs to have the desire for approval from his parents, from his teachers and his peers. He need to have the desire for a feeling of accomplishment as this causes him to seek more and more knowledge. He needs to feel
proud about accomplishment.
I have not mentioned all of the desires that lead to motivation and learning but only a few of the primary desires that will be helpful to this process. Motivation and learning go together for achievement. |

Many Chinese young students would stay up till dawn to spot the star and hoping to be named after the person who discovers it.
These stars are named... The Star Online > Lifefocus
Monday October 31, 2005
By D.J. BATZER
Until the first General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1922, the naming or numbering of stars was up to the individual. Since then the IAU has imposed some sort of order on the process. It was also at that meeting that the 88 constellations in use today were agreed upon.
Occasionally one sees advertisements in certain magazines offering to name a star after a person, for a fee of course. Such naming has no official weight at all and is merely a way of getting money out of the vain.
People have been naming stars for at least 5,000 years. It was inevitable that the brighter stars would have stories woven around them and that patterns should be seen in the random distribution of the stars in the sky.
There is no official list of star names and, as astronomy writer Michael Covington has pointed out, some stars have quite a ridiculous number of identifications. Sirius, for example, has 54 and has been included in many sky surveys. It is commonly known as Alpha Canis Majoris. The brightest star in a constellation is called Alpha; the second brightest, Beta; the third, Gamma; and so on – using the Greek alphabet, a system first used by German lawyer Johannes Bayer in the 18th century, although there are a number of exceptions. For example, Omega Centauri is a globular star cluster of about a million stars, but early observers thought it was one star!
Many star names come from Arabic, often distorted due to mistranslation or printing errors. The bright star Betelgeuse – sometimes pronounced “Beetlejuice” – in the right “shoulder” of Orion, is a transcription of “Ban al-Jawza”, which is a miscopying of “Yad al-Jawza” (Hand of al-Jawza) or possibly “Ibt al-Jawza” (Armpit of al-Jawza) or “Bait al-Qaws” (The Archer’s Quiver). “Al-jawza” could mean “the Giant” or even, according to Covington, “the White Bellied Sheep”.

A population of infant stars in the Small Magellanic Cloud that have yet to be named. | Some names have come through undistorted, such as “Deneb” which means “tail”. When used by itself, it refers to Beta Cygni, the “tail” of the Swan (Cygnus). But it forms part of a dozen star names, such as Deneb Kaitos (Beta Ceti), Deneb Algedi (Delta Capricorni), Denebola (Beta Leonis), Deneb Okab (Delta Aquilae), and so on. The prefix Al (Arabic for “the”) identifies some names as of Arabic origin such as Aldabaren (the Follower) and Algol (the Ghoul).
Albireo, the well-known binary in Cygnus is probably a misprint of Ab Ireo (from Ireo) in a 1515 addition of Ptolemy’s Almagest. The trouble is that we don’t know what “Ireo” means.
The well-known star Procyon (before the Dog) is so called from Greek because it rises just before the Dog star, which is another name for Sirius Capelia (Goat star) which is the brightest star in the constellation Auriga (the Charioteer) and the furthest north of the first magnitude stars.
Arcturus, the fourth brightest star, in the constellation Bootes (pronounced Boh-oh-tees) means the Guardian of the Bear. The star Cor Caroli, from the Latin for “the Heart of Charles” in the constellation Canes Venatici (the Hunting Dogs) was so named by Edmund Halley in honour of King Charles II on his restoration on May 29, 1660.
The brightest star in the constellation Eridanus is named Achernar, which comes from the Arabic for “the star at the end of the river”. Eridanus is the mythical river into which Phaethon fell after he lost control of the sun, which he boastfully claimed he could steer across the sky, and was struck down by Zeus.
The constellation of Gemini (the Twins) is named after the inseparable twins Castor and Polydeuces; the latter is called Pollux, which is the Latin form of the name. Castor is a six-star system, two binaries in mutual orbit with a third binary in orbit around the other two.
The brightest star in the constellation Hercules is Ras Algethi, which is derived from the Arabic Ras al Jathiyy, meaning “the Head of the Kneeler” although the star was also known as Al Kaib al Ra’i, which comes from the Arabic for “the Shepherd’s Dog”.
The brightest star in the constellation Leo, Alpha Leonis is usually called Regulus “the Little King” and less commonly called Cor Leonis “the Lion’s Heart”, although both are from Latin. The second brightest star in Leo is Denebola, mentioned above, which comes from the Arabic Al Dhanab al Asad, “the Lion’s Tail”. The third brightest star in Leo is Al Geiba, which is probably a mistranscription of Al Jabbah, “the Lion’s Mane”.
Vega in the constellation Lyra (the Harp) is the brightest star in the “Summer Triangle”, the other two stars being Deneb and Altair. The name is derived, surprisingly, from the Arabic Al Nasr al Waki, “the Swooping Eagle”.

Why the foreign workers are barred if the Singaporeans can afford to pay and hired them?
Govt to crack down on illegals but S'poreans must do the jobs
By Ken Kwek The Straits Times Publication Date : 2005-10-31
The Government will do its best to discourage an over-reliance on foreign workers, including cracking down on employers who hire illegal ones.
It will also enhance the value of jobs considered "unglamorous", provided Singaporeans are willing to change their mindsets and take up such positions.
This was the message from Raymond Lim, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, and Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Education and Manpower), at a dialogue with more than 300 Nee Soon residents Sunday.
Nee Soon MP Ong Ah Heng and Sin Boon Ann, an MP for Tampines GRC, were also on the panel fielding questions from residents after a three-hour visit to the constituency by Lim.
Concern about the employment situation in Singapore dominated the discussion, with five out of over 12 questions raised touching on this.
Jonathan Lim, a member of Yishun Central Residents Committee, said: "I went to a restaurant recently where most of the waiters were from Malaysia or China. Why don't employers hire more Singaporeans?"
Panelist Oh Cheng San, chairman of Nee Soon Citizens Consultative Committee who owns a restaurant, gave the employers' point of view. He said in Mandarin: "It's become harder to employ Singaporeans because many are unwilling to work at the weekend, which is a critical requirement in the services industry."
For their part, Singaporeans should not be afraid of "getting their hands a little dirty", said Lim, who is also Second Minister for Finance and Foreign Affairs.
"No matter what level you start at, you have to get some experience at the front line, because only then will you know what customers want and how services can be improved," he said.
He added that the Government was looking at ways to create a scale of progression in the services sector.
A national skills certification initiative to boost training in the services sector was announced last week.
"For graduates, you'll have a different entry level, perhaps start at trainee level. But the idea is that, wherever you begin, there's a scale of progression. For a waiter, you can rise to captain and maybe even start your own restaurant some day," he said.
On helping older and less qualified workers, Hawazi said that both employers and workers had a part to play to boost the job prospects of Singaporeans.
He cited the cleaning industry, in which many companies were illegally hiring Bangladeshi workers in excess of the 30 per cent quota on foreign cleaners.
"The Government will take action against such companies. But, at the same time, Singaporeans must learn to do jobs that they previously shunned or considered unglamorous," he said.
Lim also said the Government would come up with incentives to discourage employers from discriminating against older and less educated workers. | |
